Founded by seasoned cabinetmaker David Williams, Fig is a woodworking project rooted in thoughtful design, skilful craftsmanship and an affinity with timber, shaped by many years in the trade.

We source and sell exceptional reclaimed timber, giving it new purpose through bespoke furniture and joinery.
Biography
David trained through a traditional apprenticeship at the renowned Edward Barnsley Workshop, an institution firmly rooted in the British Arts and Crafts movement. He went on to work as a senior cabinetmaker at luxury furniture maker Silverlining, before managing the workshop at Liverpool’s H. Miller Bros.
Across these roles, David has made and managed furniture and interior projects for settings ranging from private homes to superyachts, both locally and internationally. This breadth of experience has shaped a clear understanding of how well-made furniture should function, feel and endure, as well as a belief that the best work grows from relationships built on trust, careful listening, good humour and mutual respect.
Our Ethos
“There is a need now for the consumption of materials to be more considered. The wood used in furniture and joinery is from the slowest growing trees, and because the old growth forests are so often the best habitat for wildlife, it means the timber used in the furniture industry is often the most damaging to extract. But luckily for us,
there is an abundance of incredible quality, slowly grown timber already in circulation.
In many cases this timber is of better quality because it came originally from old growth forests, the likes of which we no longer have in this country, and definitely shouldn’t be exploiting abroad. We have made it our mission at Fig to continue the circulation of these materials, and wherever possible source reclaimed timber for our projects.
Working alongside our clients, we set out to create furniture that feels appropriate for its setting, wears in rather than out over time, and becomes part of the everyday life of its home.
